So finally after way too many months, I finally managed to get enough energy to finish painting the built-in! In all theory it should NOT have taken me this long, but frankly I've been a little busy
kicking breast cancers ass.
When the hubs and I were last was working on this built-in it looked like this:
And with a lot of caulk, a lot more paint and tons of patience we have this:
There were some huge gaps in the corners of the inside of the built-in so it took me a few coats of caulk to get it as seamless as I could. I then had to prime and paint all of the interior walls of each of the four cubes. I then went through a distressed some of the edges, mainly because of the baskets we have in them would cause them to rub off the paint. It isn't very noticeable in the photos, but it adds just a subtle touch to the built-in that it was missing.
To get the full Monty on how this project was done:
and
The built-in isn't perfect, but in all actuality the imperfections in it make it perfect to me! I'm so happy that I can finally check this off my list of things that need to get done. At least for now. The thought has crossed my mind about painting the back wall of each of the cubes, but I'm not quite sure...I will be saving that for another day!
That is looking so fabulous! I always marvel at what paint can do, it is seriously amazing. Of course, you have to built something great first - nicely done!
