Dining Room Update

Happy Friday!!!  The hubs and I are stuck working all weekend, but at least we managed to get some stuff done during the week!!

I mentioned here that I decided to take on repainting the dining room from this:

To this:

The hubs and my theme for the house is "light and bright" and are slowly but surely making it happen room by room.

I also went ahead and painted the off-white crown moulding the same color as the ceiling which made a HUGE difference!

I also went ahead and painted the curtain holdbacks from a black/gold color to the same color green as the living room and the door in the kitchen.

Along with the holdbacks, I also painted the "iron" wall decor from the dark black:

To the same green, which we like a lot better!

and while I was on a green paint fix, I also painted the bottom of the candle sticks...

Compared to how dark the room was before we are really liking the way the room is progressing!!

Now all we need to do is find some blinds which is proving to be a little more difficult then I thought...

We have decided against doing wainscoting in this room, at least for now, because of how low the windows are and we think it would look odd with higher wainscoting around them...but who knows if we may change our minds.

Since I love the before and afters.

This is what we started out with:

Before the crown moulding was painted and we found a great picture to hang:

To the 99% done project:

And here is the infamous list of all lists:

  • Finish painting the rest of the walls and touching up areas
  • Paint the crown molding a crisp white (instead of the off white it is right now)
  • Figure out a better center piece for the table
  • DIY some artwork
  • Wainscoting it up!<--decided against doing
  • Add some blinds to the windows
